Asking members to login to the member site allows you to tailor the user experience to each member. With user-specific access you have the ability to remember what content they’ve subscribed to, what content they’ve accessed, and possibly what content they’ve favorited or completed. You can also provide quizzes and lessons to truly personalize the experience. This controlled membership area provides a very customized experience that enhances the user’s interaction with the website and builds engagement.
Checklists have been used in healthcare practice to ensure that clinical practice guidelines are followed. An example is the WHO Surgical Safety Checklist developed for the World Health Organization and found to have a large effect on improving patient safety[2] and subsequently found to have a nil effect in a cohort of hospitals in the Province of Ontario in Canada.[3] According to a meta-analysis after introduction of the checklist mortality dropped by 23% and all complications by 40%, higher-quality studies are required to make the meta-analysis more robust.[4] However, checklist use in healthcare has not always met with success and the transferability between settings has been questioned.[5] In the UK, a study on the implementation of a checklist for provision of medical care to elderly patients admitting to hospital found that the checklist highlighted limitations with frailty assessment in acute care and motivated teams to review routine practices, but that work is needed to understand whether and how checklists can be embedded in complex multidisciplinary care.[6]

Again, unless your research makes it clear that your audience is ready and waiting to join your program, don’t produce your entire membership program just yet. Starting small and creating just enough top-quality content to keep charter members happy, then seeking their feedback before moving on to the next stage of production will help save you both time and effort in the long run.

USA Swimming’s background check requirement is designed to deter individuals who should not be working with athletes from ever applying for membership. Additionally, it serves to identify any unsuitable criminal history of those individuals who do apply for membership. Like previously mandated USA Swimming safety and education requirements, the background check program is another layer of protection for athletes in our sport.


Unfortunately, USA Swimming cannot accept your background check for another organization. Currently, there is significant duplication of efforts with regard to background checks required by schools, churches, youth sports and employers in part because organizations are not permitted to share applicant’s background check reports with each other. In addition, different entities use different criteria to judge someone’s suitability for employment, membership or service. There are no standard criteria by which search reports are evaluated.
IntelliCorp Records will conduct county searches in these counties for the name provided and one former last name. A search for an address in one of these counties is subject to an additional $65 fee per name for county criminal record searches. This is the actual fee charged for the search by New York. However, as a benefit to members, USA Swimming will subsidize this fee such that USA Swimming will pay $40 and members who are charged the additional fee(s) will pay only $25 per name that must be searched. This fee will be applied at the time the background check is ordered.
Now that you’ve created your site and have taken into account the feedback of your first set of members, it’s time to start promoting to a wider audience. We’ve published lots of useful content covering this topic, including some simple SEO strategies for membership sites, as well as a guide to creating a buzz around your program.  Then there’s social media marketing to consider, not to mention starting a blog to attract more of your target audience.

Checklist 14: Outsourcing Your Membership Site From Start To Finish : Believe it or not, but membership sites can be outsourced from start to finish. We’ve been there, done that and got the t-shirt. And if that’s something you would consider to do, in this checklist we reveal the exact steps we take to completely outsource one of our membership sites and still rake in the profits.

A: All coaches must complete the online course and test.  When the course is completed, save/print the Online Content Only certificate and forward it to your LSC registrar. The certificate will have a QR code that can be traced on ARC website. The course should take 2-3 hours to complete. Coaches can exit the course at any time and log back in to resume where they left off but once they start the final exam, they need to complete it in one session.
Once you have the list of features from the step above, you can then start checking out different building platforms by comparing them to your list. It’s not enough just to get the feature you want. Ensure that any involved limitations are acceptable when creating a website with membership and user login. For instance, one platform might give you the freedom to unlimited membership signups while another limit you to just 100. You should make yourself aware of all the points.
